T20

T20 Forum on Climate Change
Climate change is increasingly perceived as the defining challenge of our time as it endangers both life and livelihood in our planet. The Covid-induced crisis is making this challenge all the more crucial as it urges us to strike the right balance between global recovery and environmental targets. From governments to private companies and international organisations, finding viable options and strategies to build a green future is key.
T20 Forum on Digital Transformation
The pandemic has rapidly accelerated the role played by digitalisation in our society and highlighted the inequalities associated with it. Rethinking professional workplaces, the education system, and our relationship with technology has become an urgent priority. However, international disputes over internet and data governance are scaling back the potential of digital transformation, fuelling ethical and security issues.
T20 Forum on Social Cohesion
Though we are still amidst a serious health and economic crisis, governments and societies must look onwards in order to lay the foundations of a new welfare system and explore feasible ways ahead to keep growing in a fair, sustainable and inclusive manner, both at domestic and international level. Having a cohesive social infrastructure network in place is a precondition for both rich and developing countries to achieve equitable and durable growth.

Global Monetary Policy Coordination Meetings

Monetary policies are confronted by short and long-term challenges. In the short term, “normalization” of money creation and interest rates, following years of unorthodox policies, puts financial stability at risk in major monetary centres and in EMEs. Longer term challenges extend over the theoretical framework of monetary policies and their institutional settings: a lack of clarity and trust in monetary action weakens its effectiveness and endangers financial stability. The paper argues that global coordination is crucial to face these challenges.
